My humanity is bound up in yours, for we can only be human together. Desmond Tutu

Last week, I shared a little kernel about my transition into coaching—how a thirty-year foundation in Montessori pedagogy and a healthy dose of humility brought me to this work. Since then, I’ve had a few people reach out with a question that gets right to the heart of what I do: Who do you actually coach?

When people look at coaching from the outside, there’s often an assumption that it’s designed for one specific type of person—maybe a corporate executive looking to climb the ladder, or someone taking a rigid, corporate approach to personal growth. But if you look across my practice, the tapestry of humans I’ve had the privilege to partner with tells a completely different story.

Over the years, my practice has brought me into deep partnership with a wildly diverse spectrum of humans. I’ve sat across from Wall Street execs, stay-at-home parents, doctors, psychologists, and lawyers, jewelry makers, artists, supermodels, assistant teachers, heads of schools, and grandparents stepping into brand-new chapters of wisdom.

On the surface, their worlds couldn’t look more different. Their daily routines, public roles, and background stories span vast distances. But underneath the titles, the roles, and the daily hustle, the common thread is always the same: our shared humanity.

Regardless of status or identity, every single person who steps into a coaching relationship shares a fundamental need: the desire to be truly seen. They deserve to be met by someone who sees their core humanity, who affirms their possibilities without judgment, and who holds a secure space as they evolve into a fuller, freer version of who they already are.

My ability to meet people across such a wide spectrum isn’t an accident. It is the direct result of thirty years spent walking the path of an educator, a coach, and an advocate. As a queer human, my entire life and career have been shaped by the ongoing work of identity, equity, and belonging. Co-founding a non-profit dedicated to supporting the LGBTQIA+ community taught me in real-time what it means to build spaces of absolute safety, agency, and affirmation—places where people can finally drop their armor and simply exist as their authentic selves.

Parallel to that advocacy foundation is my spiritual anchor. Grounded in mindfulness and breathwork, and nurtured by my connection to Thich Nhat Hanh’s teachings, presence isn’t just something I practice—it is the bedrock of how I show up. It allows me to prepare an environment of non-judgment and radical acceptance for every single soul who sits with me.

My job isn’t to put you in a box, tell you who to be, or hand you a pre-packaged roadmap. My job is to hold a safe, intentional space where you can pause, drop the weight you’ve been carrying, and discover your own answers. Coaching isn’t limited to a single demographic, career track, or life stage. Whether you are stepping into executive leadership and learning to lead with integrity, navigating a major life pivot to align your daily work with your truest self, or simply looking for a sacred, quiet space to gain perspective and catch your breath, you don’t need a specific background to co-create with me. You just need a desire to grow.

Before you close this tab and move on with your day, I invite you to take a brief moment to anchor yourself. Settle into where you are right now, take a deep breath with me, and remember: Inhaling, I experience my humanity. Exhaling, I am a grounded human.

If you’re reaching toward a new chapter, or if you feel ready to explore what holding space for yourself could look like, my door is always open. Feel free to leave a comment, reach out directly, or check the link in my bio to connect.

Stay grounded in your becoming,

Sara
